Raising money for charity – another milestone achieved

Every entry you buy via Virtual Runner UK is raising money for amazing charities. A minimum of 20% from every entry fee is donated to the charity highlighted alongside the medal.

When I set up Virtual Runner (over 4 years ago now), I set a target to raise £10,000 for charity. Within the first 18 months, we smashed this so I set the very ambitious goal of raising £500,000 for various causes. Today, I am delighted to announce that we are heading in the right direction of this target and have raised over £350,000. And this is all thanks to you for your continued support of our races. I never imagined that my Virtual Runner concept would take off this much to raise literally £thousand’s.

Since January 2014, we have donated to over 275 charities and we have many races scheduled for this year to increase the number of donations we can send to more wonderful causes. We also have 100’s of charities of our nomination list and my pledge is to continue working through this to support as many as possible.

Our highest donation was a total of over £50,000 which was split between the We Love Manchester (Manchester Evening News appeal) and NW Ambulance Trust after the horrific attacks at the MEN Arena back in May 2017. I will never forget how the running community came together to run for 22 minutes in honour of the 22 people who lost their lives.

I have a folder with lots of lovely thank you letters and cards from many charities, which you will see me post on social media when I receive them. On talking to the charities, they have given feedback that the awareness of their causes through Virtual Runner is the icing on the cake (the donation being the cake of course!) So I am writing this blog to pass my thanks onto you! As without your continued support of Virtual Runner this wouldn’t be possible.

THANK YOU!
