A new way to run with your phone

The guys at Freetrain got in touch with us at Virtual Runner to tell us about a new product they have developed and launched. Mr Virtual Runner, aka Paul tested the V1 during a run (long run) as part of his virtual London Marathon on 4th October.
Paul was very impressed with the fit, it was snug and actually supported with his Camelbak not moving. The phone area was ideal for the virtual event as he was easily able to view his device whilst running; mainly to check the app was working! He mentioned that it was also ideal for checking pace on Strava (other apps are available); particularly ideal for those without a fitness watch.
Even better news was Paul hardly noticed that he was wearing the Freetrain; he experienced no chaffing/blistering etc.
Overall, Paul was impressed with the product and will be adding it to his running attire.
*Note: Paul doesn’t look very pleased in the photo used, this is no reflection on anything – just a sign of how tired he was after his first ever marathon*
Below are some words from the guys at Freetrain which explains a little more about the product:
The Freetrain V1 & VR
Created with you in mind, the V1 is the product you don’t know you need until you have it. With over 100,000 satisfied runners & trainers, the V1 has finally given you the most streamlined & balanced way to take your small essentials with you whilst you train.
Bringing practicality and safety together. Freetrain also have the VR –  The counterpart to the V1, made from ultra-reflective material that lights up the dark.
In the age of the smartphone, people now like to track their workouts, listen to music, or even keep in touch with the rest of the world whilst they exercise. Carrying your phone, keys & energy boosters can be distracting when you have something bouncing around on your arm or pocket or even riding up your back. Now you have the solution.
Balanced
Did you know that running with uneven weight distribution leads to injuries? In both vests there is now the opportunity to evenly distribute the things you need across your torso to allow for optimum balance that won’t hinder your progress or alter your technique.
Streamlined
With performance being of high priority, we only use intelligent, lightweight materials to create a product that comfortably moulds to the torso that will not hold you back. Our key focus is to minimise any interference to any functional movement while giving you practical & almost seamless access to the things you need, when you need them.
Practical
Complimented with an adjustable waistband for you to choose your perfect fit; highly reflective print for your night runs; with your mobile device located in a central & natural position. You can now use the snap release & hinge to access your device on the move: to change song, check progress or even answer a call whilst training.
Details matter
The Vests are also equipped with a clever little divider inside the phone pouch where you can store cards & cash. As well as a Velcro pocket on the right hand side for keys & a larger zip pocket on the left for things like energy gels, bars or even an inhaler. The V1&VR are also perforated with breathable holes to allow excess heat to escape to reduce the chances of overheating. The adjustable waistband gives you the option to adjust whenever you need to, for maximum comfortability.
No compromise on convenience.
Where did it all start?
Freetrain is the brainchild of two former professional athletes who met playing football in 2011.
Forever searching to improve the enjoyment of our workouts, and with an eye on a future away from football, we looked to create something to help adapt working out to a rapidly evolving modern world.
At the end of 2018, we settled on the idea of finding the best possible solution to carrying your phone whilst you worked out and called our company Freetrain.
In the beginning, we cut designs out of old T-shirts and got our grandparents to stitch the first basic prototypes. There were lots of after school football sessions and part time jobs necessary to help fund the development and manufacture of our products, but we carried on with a single creative purpose: to give people more freedom while they train…
Finally, in the summer of 2019, the Freetrain V1 vest was born, and runners, cyclists and casual gym goers all over the world began to share our vision…
