London is always a good idea

The London marathon week has to be one of my all time favourite weeks of the year! And 2017 was no exception.

Virtual Runner was at the London marathon expo and we spent many hours talking to potential new Virtual Runners and many current members. Thank you to each and everyone of you who stopped by, it was lovely to meet so many of you. We had the opportunity of showcasing lots of medals on our new sweet cart stand. I am sure some of you have new medals on you wish list now (sorry, not sorry!)

On Thursday evening, we had the pleasure of an invitation to the Running Awards where we scooped up silver in the Best Online Community category – full results from the night can be found here: https://therunningawards.com/results2017. Our second thanks in this blog goes to everyone who took the time out to vote for us – it means so much! We now have a full set of this award which makes us incredibly proud. Thank you once again!

Friday and Saturday were two very busy days at the Expo but we too got caught in the excitement ahead of race day.

On Sunday whilst many of you were doing your on race day prep, we began our set up for the day just after mile 21. We displayed banners, flags and balloons ready for you all to pass us. And there we stayed for many hours cheering, screaming, handing out hugs, sweets and general encouragement. Having ran London twice myself, I know how much it can help to boost motivation to get through the miles so for me is was a day well spent. The atmosphere was electric and you can tell how much I shouted as I still (over 24 hours later) can’t talk properly without a little croak.

So here’s to you, quick runners, slower runners, charity runners, fancy dress runners – you are incredibly awesome and welcome to the 1% club!
